Turning Cooler

Posted by: Mike Fairbourne

We will start out the week still in the 50s, but cooler air will start filtering in lowering our highs into the upper 30s and lower 40s. We may also pick up a dusting of snow midweek.

With it being as mild as it has been, it's hard to realize that the winter solstice is only a month away. As of Sunday, we have 9 hours and 19 minutes of daylight. That will shrink to 8 hours and 45 minutes by Dec. 21t. Then the days will slowly lengthen again.

Right now, Thanksgiving Day looks cool, with perhaps some flurries in the morning.

Our Nice Run Continues

Posted by: Chris Shaffer

We will be blessed with highs in the 50s this weekend. It will be breezy Saturday, but this will be the warmer day. Expect the clouds to roll in Sunday with a chance of light rain showers east.

Will we cool down?

Yes. By Tuesday our highs will only be in the 30s. We have a few storm systems rolling through next week. It may be cool enough for some snow.

Warming Up Again

Posted by: Chris Shaffer

Not that we cooled down much. We've had an above average high every day in November. But we will soar above average over the next few days.

Saturday: It Will Be Dry

The clouds clear out and allow that sun to warm our air. The wind will pick up Saturday blowing from the southeast 10-15 mph. 53 will be the high.

Sunday: Showers Possible

We will stay warm over the entire weekend, but we do have a chance of some light rain showers on Sunday. Our highs will only be in the 30s next week.

Balmy November

Posted by: Chris Shaffer

Things could be much different. On this date back in 1981, we racked up more than 10 inches of snow over two days. The big headline was the top of the Metrodome collapsing due to the heavy, wet snow.

We haven't had any snow this November. And I still don't see any on the horizon. We will have clouds today associated with the weakening system to our southeast. Most of the rain remains east.

That system will slide away and take the clouds with it during the day on Friday. Saturday looks gorgeous with some rain possible by Sunday.

From Cold To Warm And Back Again

Posted by: Chris Shaffer

October left a bad taste in our mouths, but November has been fantastic. We went from the fourth coldest October on record to the second warmest November on record (if the month ended today).

We will start off with frost and cool temps this morning with a clear sky and light winds. High pressure will keep us sunny all day and warm us about ten degrees above average.

We cool a bit Wednesday and Thursday with clouds streaming up from the south. The main storm system will miss us, but we can't escape the clouds.

Still Mild

Posted by: Mike Fairbourne

This is typically a gray month for us, so this sunshine is a real bonus. Although we had a little snow back in October, this is usually the month of first accumulating snowfall.

We haven't even been cold enough for snow, as we continue to rack up a string of above-average temperatures. This week we'll see some frosty overnights, but above-average highs.

Toward the end of the week we may see some "rain" showers, mainly on Thursday and again for the weekend.

Mild November

Posted by: Mike Fairbourne

November is the month that has the largest drop in average temperatures. We go from a high of 50 on the 1st to 32 degrees on the 30th. Lows go from 31 to 18 degrees.

With the rapid drop in average temperatures, you would expect to see lower actual temperatures. We continue to see warm November readings of 15 to 20 degrees above average.

This coming week we'll see more of the same with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s and dry until Friday.

Another Nice Weekend

Posted by: Chris Shaffer

It doesn't start out too pretty. We will keep a chance of sprinkles across Eastern Minnesota and Western Wisconsin in the morning. The clouds will be slow to clear, but eventually they push east.

Sunday: The Nicer Day

So we will be left with plenty of sunshine Sunday as high pressure creeps into the region. Our high will still be around 10 degrees above average.

Still Mild

Posted by: Chris Shaffer

We are over 8 degrees above average for the month of November. Can we continue at this pace? Not exactly. We will cool a bit into the weekend.

Dry weekend

We will have rain moving across the state today. The best chance of rain will be across Northern Minnesota. The wind will back off by evening.

Cooler weekend

We will be dry both days. Clouds will be slow to clear on Saturday, and our temps will peak out in the 40s. It will still be above average.
