Significant layoffs, deep cutbacks and threats of sale or an outright shutdown:
That's the word at the San Francisco Chronicle headquarters today after Hearst announced that it's SF daily is bleeding money to the point of death. (

When they said the newspaper industry was dying, I knew it was true, but I had no idea how imminent its demise truly was.
This development leads me to ask you this: For local news where do you go, who do you trust, and who does it best? And, if the Chronicle were to actually fold, how would you be affected? Your thoughts go below.
