Good News, Good Cause

Okay friends, listen up. I got a chance to get an update on cute little Annie today. She is in recovery over at the U of M.

I found out at least one of the surgeons who worked on Madelyn was part of Annie's surgical team. So I know she's in good hands. We have some sweet video of Annie in recovery and if you weren't in love by seeing her pictures last night, you will be today when you see her sweet face on tape. The story airs at 5, and will be posted on WCCO.COM by 6 tonight.

So, here's the deal. I'm told the surgery went well, and she is resting comfortably now, which is just what she needs to be doing. She still is racking up medical bills, though, which RAGOM (Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota) is going to have to pay.

Obviously, it's a non-profit that does great work, but needs donations to help cover a bill like this one.

So I received a little challenge today from co-worker PJ Fiske, who read the blog and has taken calls from heart-sick viewers all day. He ponied up $100 and challenging me to do the same. I did so and now I will now challenge some other co-workers and friends who I think have the means to help out.  And if you do too, click this link and donate, put "WCCO fundraiser" in the notes section.  Then put a note on the blog publicly calling out a friend to step up to the plate and send them the link to see it.

This is meant to be a light-hearted way to help a heartbreaking story have a happy ending. Please don't feel pressured in any way. And if $100 is way too far out of your budget, $5, $10 or $20 would be greatly appreciated. The point is to raise awareness and hopefully raise a little money for Annie.

And don't forget, when she gets better, she'll need a home. You can find info on all that by clicking here.

God Bless Annie and all the sweet people who are touched by her story!
