Put
William Mitchell Professor Raleigh Levine in the list of Minnesota legal and
political experts who think Al Franken will prevail in the Minnesota Supreme
Court and that Norm Coleman has little chance of getting his case heard in
federal court.
Professor
David Schultz of Hamline University, Professor Larry Jacobs of the Humphrey
Institute and Professor Steven Schier of Carleton College also say they believe
the Supreme Court will uphold the three-judge panel's ruling in favor of Al
Franken. And all think this matter won’t go anywhere in federal court.
Furthermore,
I have been unable to find any independent expert who believes Coleman will win
in the Minnesota Supreme Court. In fact, I have asked the Coleman camp if they
know of any expert and they have not given me any names.
The
thing about experts is that they can, of course, be wrong. But when they all
say the same thing you have to wonder.
This
morning, attorneys for Coleman and Franken present their arguments before the Minnesota
Supreme Court. It appears this really is the beginning of the end of the
longest Senate election in U.S. history.
