I am getting hammered with comments that I let Rep. Michele Bachmann off the hook when I questioned her about her comments on MSNBC’S Hardball that Barack Obama has "anti-american views."
Here is the interview. And here is one of the many, many comments I received.
This one from S.K.:
Esme, you let Michelle Bachmann off the hook. Why didn't you play the video of her Chris Matthews interview during your recent interview with her. This is what Michelle said when asked by Matthews whether she believes that Obama may have anti-American views. She replied, "Absolutely. I'm very concerned that he may have anti-American views." She also told Matthews that the national media should scrutinize all members of Congress about whether they hold "anti-American views." Media people like you need to ask the hard questions and not let somebody have air time to change the facts. In fact, I don't think she answered any of your questions. I am disappointed."
Sorry S.K... I do regret not pressing her on the issue, but I did want to move on to asking her about her request for a pardon for Petters’ colleague Frank Vennes.
But then I got this comment from Sandy in Rochester:
"Esme, Every Sunday morning we watch WCCO. We have bit our lip for the last time. It is obvious what direction you lean. You needle and poke the Republican candidates and bring up the negative comments and issues from their opponents. While by appearances you laugh and are jovial with the demacratic candidates. Shouldn't a media person be transparent in their choices and direction. But then this entire election season the right side has had to fight not only the left but the media criticism all the way. Hard to understand WHY the democrats and their candidates seem to be the media darlings across the board !!"
What do you think?
