Tonight's Good Question is about names. The Social Security Administration has released a list of top names across the U.S., and you can get the top names for Minnesota. Ethan and Alexander are the top two MN boys names, Ava and Olivia are the top two MN girls names from 2008.
We wanted to know how big of a deal your name is. What does it tell about your personality? There's lots of research on names and the impact on finding a job, ending up a criminal, and whether you're perceived as trustworthy.
If you're on Facebook, you can see this cool video that Dyani sent me about her name. Or you can see what Twitterers had to say. (I heard about Riah, Thad, Zoma, Fiona, Ada, Bryant, and Iona among other names.)
And I love this, Wired wrote an article about why your creative baby name sounds like everyone else's. (115 Minnesota parents named their daughters "Neveah" last year. That's Heaven spelled backwards. Clever.)
My babies names: Sam and Seth. My wife nixed Ryan for baby #2, because then we'd have two kids named after characters in "The O.C."
What say you? What's your crazy name story? Do you think a unique name or a conventional name is the way to go?
