First of
all, I want to say again I don’t think Friday the 13th's are unlucky
days. I always seem to have good luck on them.
I could
list a number of things today, but let me just begin with the SUNSHINE.
It felt so good to get the clouds out of the way for an entire day, and be able
to step outside without the scarf and big winter coat. (I actually opted
for a sweater today … walking on the wild side!) The forecast calls for
increasing temperatures through the weekend and we may hit 50 by St. Patty’s
Day. I’m thinking that’s all good.
Speaking of
sunshine ... I want to share a link from a story on one of our
local on-line
publications. It’s about one of my favorite people in the world. Darcy
Pohland is such a fun friend.

She is also
a daily reminder to me that we a lot of life is what you make of it. Darcy is
one of the best reporters in the Twin Cities, and she does it all from a
wheelchair. She lives with daily challenges to do the things most of us take
for granted, yet she rolls in to our morning editorial meetings every single
day as a burst of positive energy.
She is
funny, upbeat, and creative. Dennis Douda and I often refer to her as Little
Miss Sunshine, because every time she enters the room, you get a dose of light.
It comes from within, and we all could take a lesson from Darcy to look for the
good in every day, and get on with it. So take a moment and
check out the
article.
I’m honored
she credits me with such a happy memory. It was just as fun for us,
and I loved her overcoming her fear and saying “Why Not”? Life is
always more fun if you can remember those two words.

And Darcy
is putting her optimism into full gear these days for her beloved Gophers. Today
she is wearing her dad’s letterman’s sweater.

He earned
it in track and field. She’s feeling quit optimistic that the Gophers will be
part of March Madness and the NCAA Tourney. Why not? After all, it is
a lucky day.
Have a
great weekend my friends!
