There is lots of reaction on the web to the departure of longtime anchor Barbara Rodgers from CBS 5. Her colleagues are sad to see her go, but it seems viewers are also heralding a true artisan of her trade:
Top Ramen Playground:She's a totally cute lady; I'm sat in on one of her newscasts on a college field trip once.
The Merc says her last day is already on Friday(!).
Compare that to good old
Dennis Richmond's
retirement,
which he announced months in advance. Is it because he's the Big Daddy
of all NorCal news, we had to really gear up to see him go?
SFist:
We liked Rodgers. Especially her bold move to go grey this past year. (Not pictured at left.) Anyway, we'll miss you, Barbara.
Beyond Chron:
Today's retirement of longtime KPIX anchor
Barbara Rodgers, last week's retirement of KTVU anchor Dennis Richmond
and the recent retirement of KGO sports anchor Martin Wyatt marks an
end of an era for the first generation of Bay Area Black television
journalists.
