This upcoming series with the Twins is the one I bet Jim Leyland, Detroit's Manager, was thinking about at the beginning of the year when he said he thinks the season will come down to the last week of games.

Life was so much easier years ago when we had the magic number in the right field upper deck counting down until playoff time. This is much more complicated with all the scoreboard watching. It'll be much easier starting tonight.

If we don't make it to the postseason for some terrible awful reason…then I'll look back at these games with fondness and remember them as "playoff games." Except we need to win three of four to make things interesting. So it's more like "extreme playoffs!"

Everyone's still talking about the almighty "Purple Four." After this series I sure hope everyone's talking about a hometown hero that's actually from here.

Off Topic: Remember when I wrote and submitted this? Twinsblog Entry for an Emmy

The Twinsblog was nominated in two different categories in the Midwest Regional Emmy Awards: Advanced Media Sports and Advanced Media Video Editing.

Saturday the awards were held downtown and the Twinsblog won for Advanced Media Video Editing! It was a surreal experience. I thanked my Mom and Dad, WCCO and the Twins all while wearing my red Saturday Twins Game Day hat. It was a great night.

Don't tell anyone though but I'd probably trade the Emmy in for a Twins Divisional Title.
