The Mayor is most likely thankful for the staff that still works for him. He's lost a lot of talent
lately, and I'm sure he's taking significant time today to remind those
he works with and THOSE HE WORKS FOR how thankful he is for the
wonderful challenges of his office and opportunities to effect positive
change in this city he so adores. He's probably gazing out his office
window right now, internally remarking just how lucky and blessed he
is, how fortunate his life has been and what a humbling and ultimately
valuable experience the last year has been. Christ, I bet he's given
each exhausted and downtrodden intern and big, cologne-clouded hug and
a gift certificate for a massage at one of the 57 spas
he owns. This afternoon, he might even sit down and write a personal,
handwritten thank you note to his family and friends for tolerating the
ups and downs of his failed campaign
for Governor. And after that, he's going to walk through each
neighborhood in San Francisco, high-fiving the residents he sees along
the way and saying, "Happy Thanksgiving, friend!" You mark my words.
Beth Spotswood is listing what San Francisco's lawmakers are thankful for this Thanksgiving. I'm sure they are thrilled. But for you, it is to laugh.
